Associate Advisor

Essential Functions and Duties:

  • Client Meetings & Financial Planning
    • Supports one or more Hybrid Advisors, Relationship Managers and/or Lead Advisors, as assigned by Executive Council.
    • Prepares lead advisor(s) for meetings: reviewing meeting prep and drafting recommendations on the hypos, allocations, and holdings; finalizing agenda; briefing at least 24 hours prior to meeting to generate advice & then sending meeting prep requests when applicable.
    • If supporting a member of Executive Council or a Relationship Manager or Lead Advisor at full client capacity –
    • Wrap up within 48 hours after client meetings: Assist with completing final models; updating hypos with changes made (if necessary); finalizing planning memos; updating financial data and post-meeting changes in CRM; debriefing with lead advisor so e-mail can be sent to clients for follow-up, as needed.
    • Handles incoming and outgoing client phone calls/emails relating to financial planning action items.
    • Participates in all client meetings (ASM, YEC, intake) with advisor as a fully functioning second chair.
    • Mentors and trains other Associate Advisors and SR-CSA’s, R-CSAs, and CSAs as needed.
    • Serves as the primary back up to the Lead Advisor and will communicate directly with the client regarding email questions, servicing, planning or insurance items if advisor is unavailable.
  • Miscellaneous Operations
    • Attends advisor strategy and tactical kick off meetings.
    • Attends various conferences and workshops, as needed.
    • Attends all team meetings & retreats, including the annual planning summit (optional).
    • Serves as a back-up for all members in the advisory department.
    • Serves on the Investment Committee.
    • Implementing a Plan of Work annually, and/or if your position evolves.
    • No client retention or management goals.
    • Handles Senior CSA roles during position vacancies or as needed.
  • Business Development / Networking
    • Attending occasional business development events, client appreciation events, and company charitable events.
    • No business development goals.
  • Experience/Education Requirements
    • College Degree or equivalent experience
    • SIE
    • Series 7
    • Series 66
    • Maryland Life & Health licensed
    • CFP® Designation
