Chip Roe, CFP®, CRPC®, CRPS®, joined BFG in January 2026 as a lead advisor and shareholder after merging his Durham, NC, practice of 30 years.
Chip is excited to join the BFG team, whose culture starts with and ends with the client, which is a philosophy he also shares. It was important for Chip and his clients to join a firm with a similar culture and values, which was a key factor in this merger.
An area of planning Chip is particularly passionate about is having meaningful family discussions on aging, caregiving, and estate planning. This calling came from real-life experiences of having to take care of his mother, who had Alzheimer’s for eight years. This experience taught Chip how important conversations can become a family’s anchor in a storm.
Chip graduated from Western Carolina University with a BSBA concentration in Finance. After 7 years of banking as a loan officer, Chip found his calling as a financial planner when he earned his CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER® Practitioner designation. He also holds the CRPC® (Chartered Retirement Planning Counselor) and CRPS® (Chartered Retirement Plans Specialist) designations from the College of Financial Planning.
Chip is a member of the Financial Planning Association of the Triangle, a member and past president of the Durham Orange Estate Planning Council and past president and current board member of the Greater Durham Exchange Club.
While not working, Chip and his wife, Bobbi, enjoy traveling and being outdoors, hiking, or bicycling.
