BFG Financial Advisors, a financial services firm in Timonium, has promoted Lena M. Nebel, CFP®, MSFS, to president and chief operating officer. While BFG has a long history of female representation in leadership, this change will make Nebel the first female president in the firm’s 20-year history.
Nebel joined BFG Financial Advisors in 2018 after nearly two decades of experience in the financial services industry. Since joining, she has been instrumental in integrating new technology into the firm’s infrastructure to improve and streamline all operating procedures. As president, she will continue to spearhead the firm’s internal operations, oversee the full team of employees, work with clients as an advisor, and develop strategic alliances with firms within the industry.
Alongside her responsibilities as president, Nebel will continue her dedication to mentorship and community leadership. She is a regular speaker for schools in Maryland, serving as an advocate and role model for young girls aspiring to a career in STEM, as well as an active member of Leadership Maryland and the Executive Alliance.
“After being part of the financial services community for 26 years, I am thrilled and honored for this new role and the opportunity to elevate BFG to the next level,” said Nebel. “I am proud to lead an amazing team so committed to increasing the accessibility of financial services, empowering women and young girls, and making the financial services industry an inclusive and diverse environment.”
Her legacy has already begun with the Lena M. Nebel Women in Business Scholarship awarded to female students of the York College of Pennsylvania entering the business community with an emphasis on finance.
“Since Lena joined the firm in 2018, our organization has been better managed, more efficient, and more successful than ever in our history,” said Eric D. Brotman, CFP®, chief executive officer of BFG Financial Advisors. “She is a consummate professional, a leader for our team, an incredibly talented financial advisor, and an asset to our firm and our industry.”
Under the combined leadership of BFG Financial Advisors’s executive team, the firm has been honored with two awards for female empowerment and one for innovation since the start of 2023.
