Supporting Young Adults Affected by Cancer Through the Ulman Foundation

At BFG Financial Advisors, some of our most meaningful community partnerships are those that give us the opportunity to do more than support a cause—we get to build relationships, show up consistently, and become part of the community surrounding it.

That’s what makes our growing relationship with the Ulman Foundation so meaningful.

The Ulman Foundation supports adolescents and young adults affected by cancer, helping them and their loved ones navigate the challenges that can come with a diagnosis. Through programs, resources, community, and housing, the organization works to ensure young adults don’t have to face cancer alone.

One important part of that mission is Ulman House, which provides free housing in Baltimore for young adults and caregivers who need a place to stay while receiving cancer treatment. It is the second cancer-focused residential organization in Baltimore that BFG has had the privilege of partnering with, expanding our commitment to supporting patients and families during incredibly difficult times.

Our involvement with Ulman extends well beyond a single event. BFG supports several of the Foundation’s initiatives, including Bowties & Blue Jeans and Screw Cancer. On October 26, our team will also spend an evening at Ulman House preparing and hosting dinner for residents—an opportunity to connect personally with the people the organization serves.

Members of our team are finding their own ways to get involved, too. Kobe Bolanos is supporting Ulman through his marathon efforts, combining a personal challenge with an opportunity to raise awareness and support for the Foundation’s mission.

We’re especially proud that Manny Essien and Kobe Bolanos have both been invited to join—and accepted positions on—the Ulman Foundation’s Board of Young Adult Advisors (BOYAA). Through BOYAA, they’ll have an opportunity to deepen their involvement, contribute their perspectives, and help support the Foundation’s work on behalf of young adults affected by cancer.

This is exactly what we hope our community partnerships become: relationships that grow over time.

Writing a check or sponsoring an event can make a difference, but we believe our responsibility doesn’t end there. Whether we’re attending an event, serving a meal, taking on a fundraising challenge, or lending our time and leadership, we want to be active participants in the causes we support.

We’re grateful to the Ulman Foundation for welcoming BFG into its community and for the work its team does every day to provide connection, resources, and hope to young adults and families navigating cancer. We’re proud of how quickly this partnership has grown—and even more excited about the ways we can continue showing up in the years ahead.
